Michael Robertson, The Baker Street Letters

About: A pair of modern-day English lawyers—and brothers—wind up investigating a case in LA because of a letter sent years earlier to 221b Baker Street, the new site of their law offices.
Verdict: The premise is fantastic—letters sent to the fictional Sherlock Holmes are answered by the tenants at his old digs—but it somehow falls short in execution. The mystery here is complex and not really that interesting, and it certainly doesn't smack of Sherlock Holmes in any way (not that it was necessarily supposed to, but it would be nice if the author made more of the connection to the great detective). The characters were likable enough, but not enough was made of them either. And the ending, character-wise, felt abrupt and left me confused.
