Lemony Snicket, Poison for Breakfast

Verdict: Delightfully circumlocutious, a word which here means that Snicket meanders affably along tangents of philosophy and poetry, reveling in wordplay and secrecy, to arrive finally at the purported point of his brief and charming book—uncovering the bewildering plot behind his reportedly poisonous yet self-prepared breakfast. Hard to rate, because it is simultaneously charming and forgettable. I suppose it’s very much about the journey. But Mr. Snicket’s wit just tickles me....
