Anthony Horowitz, A Line to Kill

About: Third book in Anthony Horowitz’s reality-blurring Hawthorne and Horowitz series, in which the author appears as an often clueless Dr Watson-like tagalong tasked with documenting a psychologically opaque detective’s cases.

Verdict: I enjoy this series, which offers up interesting cozy mysteries wrapped in a charming mix of reality and fiction—the real-life author turned character in his own book. This one is set at a writer’s conference on Alderney in the Channel Islands.
